Anchor Points

Anchor Points are visible, clickable text links within your content that allow a visitor to jump from section to section within a page.

Before you start, it is recommended that you have your content as complete as possible. Anchor Point links are placed into the text with the help of the Rich Text Editor.

To get started, we need to create the anchor, or landing point within the text.  Go into Edit Mode and click on the content area where you'd like to insert your anchor.   Place your cursor where you'd like your anchor to reside, then select the 'Anchor' from the Insert Menu.

Inserting an Anchor

A pop-up window will open up and you will be prompted to name your anchor.   It's recommended that you keep your name simple if possible, and to separate multiple words with hyphens. (For example: anchor-point-test)

When finished, click OK and you see the anchor symbol placed within the text.

Now that you've set your anchor, the final step is to link to it.  The process is the same as outlined above, with a few slight differences.

If your anchor and link are in the same content area, when the link pop-up window appears, you will see an 'Anchor' dropdown menu.  There you will see the anchor you just created. Select your anchor and click OK,  select 'Save Changes' and the link will be created.

Anchor link dropdown

If your anchor and link are located in different content areas, or on different pages, when the link pop up window appears, there will be no 'Anchor' dropdown.  Instead you will need to enter your anchor in the URL box.

For anchor and links on the same page, the URL for the anchor will be the hashtag symbol (#) and the exact name of your anchor (the example anchor is title 'test').

Example:  #test

For anchor and links on different pages, the URL will be the page URL the anchor is located on (/pages/content-element-text) followed by the hashtag symbol (#) and the exact name of your anchor.

Example: /pages/content-element-text#test

When finished, click OK, then 'Save changes' to create your anchor link.
